Peugeot's history dates back to 1810 when Jean-Frédéric Peugeot and his brother Jean-Pierre established a steel foundry in Sochaux, France. The company initially produced steel products including saw blades, springs, and tools. Peugeot entered the bicycle market in the 1880s and produced its first automobile, the Peugeot Type 1, in 1889 in collaboration with engineer Léon Serpollet.
