Who Owns Beko?

Beko was created by Arçelik in 1955 as a brand for the Turkish domestic market, with the name derived from the Turkish words for "white goods" (beyaz esya). The brand was initially focused on refrigerators and washing machines for the Turkish market before expanding internationally.

In the 1990s, Beko began its international expansion, entering European markets with a value-oriented positioning that offered quality appliances at competitive prices. The brand established a particularly strong presence in the United Kingdom, where it became one of the top-selling appliance brands, and in other European markets including Germany, France, and Eastern Europe.

Beko's international growth accelerated in the 2000s and 2010s, with the brand expanding into Asia, the Middle East, and other regions. The brand's combination of reliable quality and accessible pricing resonated with consumers in emerging markets as well as value-conscious consumers in developed markets.

Arçelik significantly expanded its global footprint through the acquisition of Grundig (2004), Blomberg, and other European appliance brands, and in 2023 completed a major acquisition of Whirlpool's EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) business, making Arçelik one of the largest appliance manufacturers in Europe. Beko remains the group's primary international consumer brand.
