American juice and beverage company that owns Tropicana, Naked Juice, and KeVita, formed in 2021 when PAI Partners acquired PepsiCo's juice brand portfolio. A standalone company with PepsiCo retaining a 39% minority stake.
The Tropicana brand was founded in Bradenton, Florida in 1947 by Anthony Rossi, an Italian immigrant who developed a method for flash-pasteurizing fresh orange juice to enable shelf-stable distribution. PepsiCo acquired Tropicana in 1998 for approximately $3.3 billion.
The creation of TBG in 2021 reflected PepsiCo's strategic refocusing on higher-growth snacking and functional beverage businesses. Juice had faced long-term structural headwinds from consumer sugar awareness, and PepsiCo chose to monetize the category through a sale rather than continue to fund its distribution infrastructure.
PAI Partners has invested in growing TBG's brands and has worked to modernize manufacturing and supply chain operations since the acquisition.
TBG is committed to responsible sourcing of Florida and international citrus and to reducing its plastic packaging footprint across the Tropicana and Naked Juice product lines.
