History of Eneba
Founders Vytis Uogintas and Zygimantas Miksta had been business partners since 2012, building a digital marketing firm, SeoHelis, an advertising agency, Kokosas, and a software company, Helis LT, which they sold to Tesonet, the Lithuanian group behind Nord Security and Surfshark. They launched Eneba in 2018 from Kaunas, applying their performance marketing background to a marketplace for game keys.
The game key category already existed, dominated by G2A and a field of smaller resellers with spotty reputations. Eneba's differentiation was to invest visibly in security: fingerprinting technology, seller verification, and a streamlined refund flow designed to make buying from third-party sellers feel less risky.
In October 2019 the company raised 2.5 million euros from InReach Ventures, one of the largest early-stage rounds in Lithuania at that point. The timing proved fortunate: the 2020 pandemic drove gaming engagement sharply upward, and Eneba grew to roughly 26 million unique users with a team of about 130 by late that year.
December 2020 brought an 8 million dollar round from Practica Capital, InReach Ventures, FJ Labs, and angels including Mantas Mikuckas, the COO of Vinted, Lithuania's first unicorn. The capital funded US market expansion, which became one of the platform's largest geographies.
A payments partnership with Nuvei in April 2022 expanded the checkout to more than 530 payment methods, important for a marketplace whose buyers are global and heavily young. Nuvei's announcement cited about 5 million active users on the platform.
Through 2024 and 2025 the catalog diversified beyond pure game keys into gift cards, subscriptions, mobile top-ups, and gaming-adjacent merchandise. In May 2025 the company announced it had passed 100,000 products and 15 million lifetime buyers, with roughly 80 percent of customers returning for repeat purchases. Its published survey work on gamer price sensitivity, showing nearly half of buyers rank price first, is both marketing content and a real statement of the demand it serves.
In November 2025 Eneba received a 10 million euro loan from ILTE Lietuva, the Lithuanian state development finance institution, funding continued expansion without equity dilution. By late 2026 the company employs roughly 370 people across more than 40 countries, still founder-led with Uogintas as CEO.
Awards & Recognition
Eneba's funding rounds drew international press coverage from TechCrunch and Tech.eu as early markers of Lithuania's startup ecosystem. The company's 2025 milestones, 100,000 products and 15 million buyers, were covered in trade press. It has featured in Lithuanian business coverage as one of the country's larger consumer internet companies.
Controversy, Regulation & Public Scrutiny
No enforcement action is on record against Eneba. The category-level scrutiny that applies to it is the long-running publisher criticism of key reselling: developers including tinyBuild have publicly alleged that marketplaces in this segment carry keys purchased with stolen cards or obtained through review-request fraud. Eneba's position, like its competitors, is that it verifies sellers and removes bad actors, and it has attracted substantially less of this criticism publicly than rival G2A.
