Who Owns CHIREC International?

CHIREC International was founded in 1989 by Ratna D. Reddy in Hyderabad, India. The institution began as a vibrant summer camp for children focused on developing skills in arts, sports, and technology. The summer camp format proved successful, and responding to strong demand from parents, CHIREC evolved into a fully-fledged K-12 school.

The main campus was established in Kondapur, a rapidly developing suburb of Hyderabad that became a hub for the city's technology industry. CHIREC's location in Kondapur positioned it to serve the growing professional and expatriate community employed in Hyderabad's technology sector, which expanded significantly through the 2000s as the city became one of India's major IT hubs.

In 2008, CHIREC introduced the Cambridge International curriculum, adding an internationally recognized qualification pathway alongside its existing CBSE program. This expansion reflected the school's ambition to serve internationally mobile families and students seeking qualifications recognized by universities outside India.

CHIREC subsequently added the International Baccalaureate program, giving the school one of the broadest curriculum offerings among Hyderabad's private schools. The school grew to operate four campuses across Hyderabad: the main campus in Kondapur, a Pre-Primary campus in Jubilee Hills, a campus in Gachibowli serving Pre-Primary through Class 4, and a fourth campus.

In 2019, CHIREC International joined Cognita Schools, becoming the group's first school in India. The acquisition gave CHIREC access to Cognita's global network of educational resources, teacher development programs, and best practices from schools across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. At the time of the acquisition, Cognita operated approximately 76 schools globally with over 85,000 students.

Under Cognita ownership, CHIREC has continued to develop its academic programs and campus infrastructure while maintaining the school's established identity and community culture. The school's multi-curriculum model, offering CBSE, Cambridge, and IB pathways, remains a distinctive feature of its offering in the Hyderabad market.
