Fraser White founded Education in Motion's first school in 2003. White, a qualified lawyer, had practiced law in Asia for over 15 years, including as managing partner of Clifford Chance's Vietnam offices (1993-1996) and Shanghai office (1996-2000), and as counsel to Altheimer & Gray. During his legal career, he acquired extensive knowledge of the Chinese education system, advising several education institutions and investors on their establishment and operations in China.
In 2003, in partnership with Dulwich College (one of the UK's oldest independent schools, founded in 1619), White founded the first Dulwich College International in Shanghai. This school became the foundation of what would grow into the EiM group.
Over the following two decades, EiM expanded its portfolio through new school openings and brand acquisitions. The group grew to include Dulwich College International schools in Shanghai, Beijing, Suzhou, Hengqin, Seoul, Singapore, and Bangkok; Dehong International Chinese Schools in Shanghai, Beijing, and Xi'an; Green School International in Bali; and other educational brands.
In August 2023, EiM acquired Sherfield School in Hampshire, United Kingdom, from GEMS Bellevue (a subsidiary of GEMS Education). This marked EiM's first school in the UK and its sixth country of operation. The acquisition was completed on 31 August 2023, with Education in Motion UK Limited registered as the person with significant control.
By 2025, EiM operated 15 schools across 6 countries with over 11,500 students from 70+ countries.
