About Bellevue Education

Bellevue Education's philosophy centers on the belief that exceptional schools share common values: high academic standards, strong pastoral care, and a commitment to developing the whole child. Each school in the group is run independently but united by shared values and commitments to innovation in teaching, investment in teachers and facilities, and exceptional academic results.

The group's private ownership structure allows for long-term investment decisions focused on educational outcomes rather than short-term financial returns. Schools in the group benefit from shared expertise in governance, compliance, and strategic development while maintaining their own distinct characters.

History of Bellevue Education

Mark Malley founded Bellevue Education in 2003 after a career as a headmaster. The company was originally incorporated as House Education Limited on 7 October 2003. It was renamed The Really Great Education Company Ltd on 4 September 2008, and then renamed Bellevue Education Group Limited on 1 September 2011.

The group grew steadily through acquisitions of independent schools across the UK. By 2019, Bellevue Education consisted of 19 schools in the UK and one each in France and Switzerland. The group's philosophy emphasizes preserving each school's individual character and ethos while providing centralized support in governance, finance, and strategic planning.

In 2018, GEMS Education acquired Bellevue Education, bringing it under the umbrella of one of the world's largest private school operators. Despite the acquisition, Bellevue Education has continued to operate with its existing leadership team and brand identity.

Bellevue Education also provides educational support to Bellevue Place Group, a separate group of free schools. Mark Malley and Steve Wade serve as Trustees of this organization.
